When Victor Silberer started his journal in 1902 he wanted to give an exact chronicle of all important events in the history of aviation. Indeed the beginning of the 20th century was to be one of the most important periods in aviation. In 1900 the first Zeppelin was developed. Not much later the Wright brothers developed the first powered aircraft, which was shortly followed by the passenger aircraft of Etrich. When 1914 the Wiener Luftschiffer-Zeitung stopped publishing the era of the Zeppelin still lasted, but aircraft already played a dominaant role in conquering the skies.
